French jihadist Tyler Vilus was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Friday evening by the special assizes in Paris. This emir of the Islamic State group, who left early to fight in the Iraqi-Syrian zone, was tried for crimes committed in Syria from 2013 to 2015. 

Jihadist Tyler Vilus, emir of the Islamic State group and figure of the French terrorist galaxy, was sentenced on Friday to 30 years in prison, together with a two-third security period, for crimes committed in Syria from 2013 to 2015 The president explained to Tyler Vilus that the court had "decided not to impose a sentence of life imprisonment, what it was possible to do", justice having found him guilty of all the offenses, including of the execution of two prisoners, but that she wanted to "give him a glimmer of hope" so that he could "evolve".

The prosecution had demanded a life sentence Friday morning, with a 22-year security sentence.

One of the first French people to join IS in Syria 

Suspected of having led a group of foreign fighters, but also of having committed assassinations in the Iraqo-Syrian zone, he was one of the first French people to join the Islamic State group in Syria in late 2012. Intelligence services French have called him "emir", that is to say a high ranking within the IS.
