China News Service, July 3, according to a report from the European Network of Italy, the European Commission has recently issued recommendations to member states on tourism and border opening, removing the entry restrictions for citizens of 14+1 countries from July 1. According to the proposal, Italy is missing the top three gold tourists from China, the United States, and Russia. The ruling authorities simply quarantined the entry of non-EU tourists for 14 days, thus cutting off all international tourist sources, causing industry concerns and dissatisfaction.

According to reports, Chinese, American and Russian tourists have always been the most important consumer groups in the Italian tourism market, and the EU has conditionally opened its borders to China, excluding the United States and Russia. This move is for Italy to resume the international tourism market. Suddenly a little less enthusiasm and spirit.

According to the assessment of the Italian Tourism Industry Association, this summer's calculation of a 55% decline in international tourists, the direct loss of the tourism market is about 23 billion euros, equivalent to 1.5% of GDP. The Italian National Tourism Administration believes that the lack of international tourists is expected to cause a loss of 67 billion euros in the tourism market, accounting for 3% of GDP.

Travel industry veterans said that the Italian tourism market due to the absence of American tourists, direct economic losses will exceed 5.5 billion euros; Russian tourists are also the most important consumers of the Italian tourism market; and Chinese tourists are the largest consumer group of Italian luxury goods one. In the absence of tourists from the aforementioned countries, the Italian tourism market is difficult to form strong purchasing power.

The Italian National Tourism Administration reminded that the revenue of the tourism market in 2019 is about 84 billion euros, of which 44.3 billion euros come from foreign tourists. Nowadays, there are fewer tourists from non-EU countries in the tourism market, and the market depression has been highlighted. Relying on the tourists in the EU to revitalize the tourism market, not only is the prospect bleak, but it is simply unable to achieve the desired effect and purpose of opening the tourism market.

Bernabò Bocca, an Italian hotel entrepreneur and national senator, said that the tourism market benefits should not be measured solely by the number of tourists and the occupancy rate. Not too many tourists spend a lot of money on accommodation, only those with high spending power can show the real purchasing power of the tourism market. (Lin Zhuqing)
