- Right now, the situation is unusually bleak, considering the corona situation and a bridge that is almost completely closed, says Johanna Riovano Eckerdal, director of the Center for University Studies at Lund University.

The difficulty for the work commuters to cross the strait is, in her opinion, perhaps the foremost sign of how the once-large integration plans for the Öresund region have now come to a halt.

- The crossing of the bridge worked very smoothly until the crisis of 2015, when many refugees applied to Sweden and the border controls in Hyllie were introduced. One can only hope that the situation will improve after the corona pandemic, now that it has become so obvious what problems a closed border poses, says Johanna Rivano Eckerdal.
