Up to 10 am on Saturday, all Swedes, with a personal certificate and residents in the right county, were admitted to Helsingör. But when the big ferry arrived in Helsingör at 11 am, SVT News was met by upset ferry passengers, who were met by the police at the border control.

- When we arrived ashore they had just closed the border. You have to have covid tests and everything, says Fredrik Jensen before being forced to take the ferry back to Helsingborg.

In the clip you hear a couple of Swedes who managed to get into Denmark before the border closed.

Danish pastry to the Swedes

Kim Backe from Helsingör Handel stands in the Helsingör Toldkammeren square. His plan was to invite all Swedes to coffee and Danish pastries. But it was far from as many Swedes as he had hoped. Kim Backe thinks that the Danish government and police have given very unclear information.

- It's very confused. We received a message the other day, four new messages yesterday and two new messages today. So it's totally hopeless.

Works on taking the ferry - without stepping ashore

The Helsingborg-Helsingör route is operated by a smaller and larger ferry. On the big ferry sits the friends Lene Hansen and Erika Jönsson, who are some of those who today have chosen to travel alone - to and fro between Helsingborg and Helsingör, but without stepping ashore in Denmark.

- The last thing I read was that it remains closed. That you come in if you have a cabin, or if you work there or have relatives, says Lene Hansen.
