Angola: Isabel Dos Santos Judges "Unjustified" To Be Targeted By Possible Arrest Warrant

Isabel dos Santos, daughter of former Angolan president José Eduardo dos Santos, will she soon be subject to an international arrest warrant? The Attorney General of Angola does not exclude this possibility because the Angolan businesswoman is suspected of embezzlement of public funds and corruption, in her country and in Portugal. Isabel Dos Santos continues to deny these allegations and denounce a political cabal.

It is via her Facebook page that Isabel Dos Santos reacted to possible developments in the legal case which concerns her. An international arrest warrant would be "  patently unjustified,  " she wrote in a social media release.

The Attorney General of Angola hinted Thursday (June 25th) that he could issue the warrant because the daughter of the former president is suspected of corruption and embezzlement in her country but also in Portugal. They would amount to more than 5 billion dollars, according to the Angolan public prosecutor's office.

Already since December, Isabel dos Santos' bank accounts and assets have been frozen in Luanda and a month later, in Portugal where she has invested in banking and telephony. Since then, the billionaire has continued to proclaim his innocence. The documents on which the procedure is based are "  false  ", insists his lawyer.

In January of this year, the Luanda leaks, an investigation based on pirated documents, accused Isabel Dos Santos of having looted the coffers of the country to fuel her private affairs.
