As noted in the document, the competitive selection will work on the production of “innovative, crowdsourcing, digital media content”.

It should be based on the personal stories of residents of Ukraine about the "recent past of the country and the development of Ukrainian democracy."

“Applications should include plans to determine the circle of suitable participants and teach them digital narrative techniques, including interviewing skills and recording their own stories (or the stories of neighbors, relatives and friends) in a format suitable for professional-quality broadcast products,” states the text.

The main goal of the State Department’s initiative in Ukraine is to assist in “creating a sustainable culture of cognition of history using digital media,” emphasizes the description of the grant.

The American side proposed a number of topics for consideration in the framework of the project, including the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, the collapse of the USSR, the “revolution of dignity” and the orange revolution.

“The accent is emphasized on those historical events that are often distorted in Russian misinformation messages and / or otherwise used by malicious foreign entities for their own purposes,” the tender documentation notes.

The project is planned to be implemented in cooperation with the National Public Television and Radio Company of Ukraine, which will provide its sites for the distribution of content produced by the participants in the initiative.

Both individuals and institutions established in Ukraine, the USA and other countries of NGOs, including NGOs, think tanks and civil society organizations, can apply for participation in the competition.

Earlier, the State Department announced the receipt of applications for grants for the organization of training of “opinion leaders” in the field of digital media in Ukraine.
