“The country is suffering from a pandemic, but there are many politicians and people calling for elections as soon as possible. Dear fellow citizens, I’m going to sign the September 6 election law, ”Agnes said in a message posted on her Twitter.

At the same time, she called on other candidates for the presidency of Bolivia to take responsibility for the elections during the pandemic, as she did not receive sufficient scientific evidence for the security of this process.

Agnes also noted that “she was never interested in extending her powers” and advocated postponing the elections only because of the epidemiological situation in the country.

At the end of March, the presidential election was postponed indefinitely in Bolivia due to the spread of COVID-19.
