Three people were killed and a number of wounded were taken to the hospital yesterday, Saturday, after a stabbing operation in Reading, west of the British capital, London.

The Telegraph newspaper said that three people were killed, adding, quoting sources, that two other people were in a critical condition in the hospital, noting that the police are treating the incident as a random attack.

In turn, the police said that they had arrested a man at the scene of the accident, and that a number of the wounded had been taken to hospital.

Reading local council president Jason Brook said the police were dealing with a "serious accident" and urged people to stay away from the city center.

For his part, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson expressed his support for those affected in the accident, and said through his Twitter account, "My heart is with all those affected by this terrible accident in Reading, and I thank the emergency services at the scene."

While British Home Secretary Pretty Patel confirmed that she is very concerned after hearing reports of the accident.

Sky News reported that the appeal took place at a protest site for the Black Life Movement Important.
