A 30-year-old man has been detained after allegedly killing his 60-year-old father with his throat, at the family home in Albatera (Alicante), sources from the investigation have informed Efe.
The parricide occurred yesterday at 8:30 pm in a house on Calle La Cruz, in the neighborhood of San Jaime, and according to the same sources, the son could suffer from a mental illness .
Neighbors heard screaming and raised the alarm to the local police, who were the first to arrive at the scene and who restrained the alleged parricide when he tried to flee .
The Civil Guard has taken over the investigation and will make the detainee, a Spaniard like the victim, available to the court within a maximum period of 72 hours.
