Spaniard Sergio Alvarez, Spain's Celta Vigo goalkeeper, was injured in the knee in May to miss 5 months, the minimum period in which the Spanish Federation allowed clubs to sign a replacement, but the team signed a striker.

Vigo, who is 17th in the League, two points behind the relegation zone, returned striker Noleto to the club from Seville, to help him avoid relegation after taking advantage of a rule that allows clubs to sign players outside the transfer period under special circumstances.

A statement issued by Celta stated that Noleto, 33, will join the team immediately after passing a medical examination and signing the contract.

Noleto spent 3 years with Celta and scored 39 goals in the league between 2013 and 2016, which helped him join Spain and move to Manchester City.

The rules only allow the inclusion of a player who is already competing within Spain, and after registering for the squad the injured player is not allowed to participate in the rest of the season if he recovers early.

Barca took advantage of the same rule to sign striker Martin Braithwaite from Leganes in February, after Osman Dembele had been excluded for more than 5 months due to a back hip muscle injury that required surgery.
