18 June 2020 A train conductor was attacked by a passenger who had invited to wear the mask on a regional train that left Genoa and headed for La Spezia. It happened yesterday evening around 19 at the height of Santa Margherita Ligure, in the province of Genoa.

The conductor, having noticed the traveler without a mask, asked her to put it as required by the anti-Covid regulation but the woman reacted angrily to her invitation, insulting her and then spitting in her face. 118 health workers and the carabinieri intervened on the spot, who identified and reported the passenger for assault.

Solidarity with the conductor was also expressed by the governor of Liguria, Giovanni Toti. "A shameful and senseless gesture - the governor commented on Facebook - which should not only be condemned but severely punished. We learn to respect the rules and thank those who are doing their job, in this case also to protect the health of all of us".
