In Saint Camille, a private non-profit hospital in Bry-sur-Marne, on the outskirts of Paris, the resuscitation service was largely on strike on Tuesday 16 June.

This hospital was strongly marked by the Covid-19 pandemic. "The first week, we got a big slap in the face. Patients arrived who were intubated in the ER," says Dr. Serge Carreira, head of the resuscitation service at Saint Camille hospital. " There were a total of 800 hospitalizations, including 150 in this intensive care unit, for almost 80 deaths. But since the end of April, the situation has improved considerably. "A few weeks ago, everything was full, and now everything is empty: so much the better, "says Dr. Carreira.

"Not much has been done"

In this service, 80% of nurses and half of doctors are on strike, Tuesday, June 16. The government promised them a salary increase and a bonus of 1,500 euros that they have still not received to date. "The Covid bonus is the drop of water that broke the camel's back for today's strike," explains Béatrice Dombrecht, a nursing assistant. "We had the impression that it was just something to calm the spirits, but behind it there is not much that has been done," added his nursing colleague Alexandre Dos Santos.

The movement is very sustained in the establishment up to the very heart of management, as Julie Chastre, the director general points out: "Today, we have prices that are lower than those of public establishments, and charges that They are superior, which makes us in a more fragile situation than the public establishments which are themselves already weakened. We support the movement of caregivers, who need not only the premium, but also be upgraded in their remuneration. "

All these subjects are posed on the "Ségur de la santé" table. This vast consultation was launched at the end of May and should materialize by the beginning of July the "massive investment and upgrading plan" promised by Emmanuel Macron.
