A group of neighbors attacked a flat squatted in Premià de Mar (Barcelona) last night by young people formerly protected by the Generalitat , whom they accused of stealing and committing an alleged violation last week. In the assault on the home, one of the people living in the home was slightly injured. Several units of the Mossos d'Esquadra were deployed in front of the building to ease the tension. Five officers were slightly injured in the intervention.

The assailants emerged from a group of about 50 neighbors who gathered in front of the house, which was stoned. Street furniture was also broken in the riots. The Mossos have opened an investigation to clarify the facts.

The mayor of Premià de Mar, Miquel Àngel Méndez (JxCat), has asked in recent days that the staff of Mossos be increased to stem the increase in crime that ensures that the Barcelona population suffers in recent weeks. The head of the regional police is the Minister of the Interior, Miquel Buch , Méndez's predecessor in the Mayor's Office of Premià de Mar.

"The situation is very uncontrolled," says the mayor in a video he published on social networks on Friday, in which he called for calm after the alleged sexual assault against a neighbor. Méndez also urges the Govern not to leave unaccompanied young foreigners homeless when they turn 18. "The Generalitat protects minors but when they reach the age of majority it leaves them on the street without a home and without a job. That creates problems that we are suffering," says the mayor, who calls for measures against squatting of houses and criminal multi-recidivism .
