Dubai Roads and Transport Authority has announced the success of the model of employing artificial intelligence techniques, represented in machine learning algorithms and computer vision, to monitor violations of preventive measures to limit the spread of the new Corona virus, such as physical spacing and wearing of masks inside its taxis, whether for passengers or drivers.

The director of the smart services executive department at the authority, Ahmed Mahboub, said that artificial intelligence techniques were used to monitor the extent of compliance with the procedures to prevent the spread of the new Corona virus and monitor violations, in addition to the number of passengers allowed per trip, as these technologies were applied as a pilot phase, and therefore it will be generalized The experiment is based on the outputs and results of this stage, noting that the outputs showed, through the analysis of the videos, that all violations of the commitment to physical distance and violations on wearing the muzzle were improperly monitored, which means that the techniques of artificial intelligence have proven their effectiveness and success by 100%.

He added that the experiment showed that the techniques of artificial intelligence are able to handle and process video files whose content is approximately 200 thousand hours per day, which reduces the need for human intervention and save time and effort to analyze these videos, and that two models of artificial intelligence have been programmed to identify and detect faces in video files and detect the wearing of the muzzle Correctly, plus a mathematical model to calculate the distance between passengers and driver.
