What to remember from Emmanuel Macron's speech

For fifteen minutes, the President of the Republic addressed the French for the fourth time since the beginning of the year. In particular, he detailed the next phase of the deconfinement process and set the first milestones for "post-Covid". Here are the main announcements to remember from the Head of State.

• The whole of French territory passes into the green zone

From this Monday, June 15, all of French territory except Mayotte and Guyana will pass into the green zone. Cafes and restaurants can therefore reopen in Ile-de-France. Nurseries, schools and colleges will also be able to accommodate all children whose presence will be compulsory from June 22. However, no announcements were made on high schools. Visits to retirement homes will be allowed again from this Monday. "  From tomorrow we will be able to turn the page on the first act of the crisis that we have just gone through,  " said Emmanuel Macron.

Emmanuel Macron also wanted to draw "  all the lessons  " from the health crisis, ensuring that "  our strengths will strengthen them, our weaknesses, we will correct them quickly and strongly  ". “  We can be proud of what has been done and of our country. Of course this test also revealed flaws, weaknesses: our dependence on other continents to procure certain products, our cumbersome organization, our social and territorial inequalities. I want us to learn all the lessons from what we have experienced,  ”declared the President of the Republic.

• "  Rebuilding a strong, ecological and sovereign economy  "

France has mobilized 500 billion euros to preserve its economy and its jobs, said Emmanuel Macron. "  We will not finance these expenses by increasing our taxes  ", he assured despite the explosion of the national debt, promising to commit to the creation of new jobs and, if necessary, to encourage relocations . The Head of State, however, clarified that this "  reconstruction must be ecological but also social and united  ".

The president, without ever directly mentioning the protest movement against police violence that is currently emerging in France, also wanted to support the police. The police and gendarmes "  deserve the support of the public authorities and the recognition of the Nation  " he declared, before adding: "  without a republican order, there is neither security nor freedom. This order is assured by the police and gendarmes on our soil. They are exposed to daily risks on our behalf ”.
