At the same time as the Public Health Authority eases the travel restrictions, general advice is that one should not go by public transport.

- It is true that the general councils are updated with clearer points about travelers. It has to do with lifting the previous recommendation of unnecessary travel, says Sara Rörbecker, press secretary at the Public Health Authority.

Must be able to book a place

Suss Forssman Thullberg, communications manager at SL, who manages public transport in Stockholm, says that the new formulations do not affect their operations very much.

- The new formulations are above all sharper against those who want to travel, they are clearer that they have to take responsibility. We have the same mission as before. It is a confirmation that what is true today also applies tomorrow.

Suss Forssman Thullberg says that it is the new wording that differentiates traffic where one can book a place or not that is the essential difference from before.

- This means that if you are going to train all over the country with SJ and can book a ticket then it is fine and dandy. But where you can't book, you have to take great responsibility yourself. During the pandemic, public transport is for those who have to go and have no other choice, she says.

Do not know what the advice gives effect

Whether the new general councils will influence how much people travel collectively is difficult to say, says Suss Forssman Thullberg.

- We hope it affects the amount of travelers so that it continues to be at a level that we can handle. This is about preventing the spread of infection and this responsibility we must shoulder, she says and continues:

- What we have not done, and which we have limited opportunity to do, is to set guards, but our staff will help travelers make sensible decisions. And we expect travelers to listen to our staff.
