The prime minister will lead the group, which will also consist of the climate minister and ministers from different areas. For the work of the college there is also set up a secretary of state and an office within the government office, writes the newspaper.

- Being at the forefront of the climate change also means that we secure competitiveness, create new green jobs throughout Sweden - and strengthen welfare, says Stefan Löfven.

Work is to start already

The plan is for work to begin as soon as possible. The main task of the college will be to ensure that the government's climate policy action plan is implemented.

- We will make sure to make the absolutely necessary climate change so as not to end up in another crisis, a crisis that we are already in, but which will be significantly worse if we do not do the right thing quickly, says Löfven.

Follows the wishes of the Climate Policy Council

The Climate Policy Council, which has the task of reviewing the government's climate policy, in its latest report has proposed exactly such a group as the government now appoints.

- The Climate Policy Council really welcomes this decision. It is now important for the group to have a strong and clear mandate, says Johan Kuylenstierna, vice chairman.

Other countries have already introduced similar solutions. In Germany, a climate cabinet is led by Angela Merkel and in Denmark, the country's climate and energy minister leads a ministerial group that will work for green change.
