British street painter Banksy posted a new artwork on the Internet on Saturday depicting the American flag and was caught by a fire from a candle that forms part of a memorial to a black person similar to the memorial of the Unknown Soldier.

The artwork appeared as thousands of people gathered in London and other cities around the world to protest against the death of George Floyd on May 25 in Minneapolis after a white police officer crouched on his neck for about nine minutes.

"The white system has failed the people of color," Banksy wrote in a short caption attached to the picture on Instagram.

He likened racism to Banksy with a broken tube that sank an apartment in the basement, and said that residents of the basement would have the right to storm the apartment on the upper floor to fix the problem.

"This is a problem that eggs made," Banksy wrote next to the picture. "Unless the eggs fix it, someone will have to go up the stairs and kick the door with his foot."

Banksy often chooses public issues that are widely raised to be the subject of his artwork, which is taken from the street walls as an exhibition, and to publish it simultaneously on his Instagram account.
