Following the spring restrictions imposed on restaurants, taverns and outdoor restaurants, environmental inspectors in Umeå have sampled where pubs have been given tips on how to think.

The inspectors have seen that queues are winding down more and more in the early summer night and the expected distances that are expected to keep are not working well. Many people move tables together and get closer and closer.

The Umeå police also testify that visitors and to a certain extent businessmen choose to close their restrictions and lose their grip.

New team in progress

Today, it is the region's infection control physician who can close a place if it is deemed necessary. But a bill on a referral that will allow the municipalities to take command and be given the opportunity to make orders and simply be able to prohibit activities unless the distance restrictions are complied with.

- Even then, we would mainly try to make a change and give advice to the pubs about how they should work and encourage people to continue to take the necessary consideration, says Tobias Eriksson, who is one of the inspectors from the municipality who was early to look at how tables stood on popular outdoor taverns.

If the bill goes through, the new ordinance with the municipality with new powers will impose and close taverns will start to apply on July 1.

Do not want to expand outdoor seating

In some municipalities, outdoor restaurants have asked for permission to have a larger area to remove congestion. So far, this has not been the case in Umeå.

"It is a complicated history with both building permits and alcohol permits that different authorities in the municipality must approve, and so far we have not received any such request," says Lena Karlsson Engman (S), chairman of the technical committee.
