It was in January that three-year-old girl Esmeralda was found dead in her home in Norrköping. Both parents were arrested and suspected early, but in February the father died under unclear circumstances in custody. The trial against the mother has been held for two weeks. She is suspected of murder in the first place and too grossly abusive to another's death.

Must undergo investigation

Now the district court's decision has come. Norrköping District Court considers that there is reason to order a forensic psychiatric examination of the mother. That with the purpose of being able to assess whether there are medical conditions to hand her over to forensic psychiatric care.
According to the decision, the investigation must be reported within four weeks.

According to the district court, the investigation should not include conditions for transferring the mother to forensic psychiatric care with a special examination.

Remains detained

Due to the risk of the mother departing, according to the district court, she must remain in custody until otherwise notified.

When the outcome of the forensic psychiatric examination is complete, the district court will continue its main hearing.

Convincing evidence

According to the district court, during the hearing, convincing evidence emerged that the mother of negligence caused Esmeralda's death by failing to immediately summon medical personnel or to take her to hospital when she was injured. The district court also says that there is convincing evidence that the mother that she committed the drug crimes.
