In recent days, the number of coronary cases confirmed has increased in the region and the explanation is that, according to the region, mass testing for covid-19 has begun.

- There are more and more of the mildly ill with limited symptoms that so far have not been tried, but which have been tried over the past week, explains Leif Dotevall, assistant infection control physician in the Västra Götaland region.

In the clip above you will hear Leif Dotevall tell us more about the coronal situation in the region.

"Huge load"

"The health centers have been very creative and in a short time have changed and offered tests," says Ann Söderström, director of health and medical services in the Västra Götaland region.

Previously, about 4,000 tests per week have been achieved. The pace has more than doubled now during the week and 10,000 tests have been done.

"It is a huge burden not only on inpatient care, but also in the laboratories, so it will be a change period to try to scale up and meet this need," says Tomas Bergström, professor of virology at SU.
