Sky Sports reported that Premier League Chelsea rival Chelsea agreed on Thursday to sign Leipzig striker Timo Werner.

A network report added that Werner has a penalty clause of 55 million euros (62.45 million dollars), expiring on June 15.

The London club made an offer to the 24-year-old, who would receive 200,000 pounds (more than a quarter of a million dollars) a week.

Werner is second in the German league's top scorer this season with 25 goals, four behind leaders Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski.

He participated in 29 games with the German national team, during which he scored 11 goals.
