Three security guards received minor injuries during the demonstration. Several police officers who have been involved in vulnerable situations now receive psychosocial support. However, no one has been seriously injured, states Assistant Commanding Officer Carolina Passikivi for TT.

Psychosocial support is given, among other things, to those who participated at the time when a female police officer got down on her knees with the protesters.

- It was a very special event that is still unclear. It followed from a strong threat and an exposed situation to quieter scenes and a completely controlled situation, says Passikivi.

"Gives distance from overwhelm"

The police have prepared three investigations regarding non-licensed demonstration which are now being investigated. Several investigations into violent riots are also ongoing. Among other things, you look through drone pictures.

The commander-in-chief emphasizes the need to protect the constitutional right to demonstrate despite the prevailing pandemic and that there is a great responsibility on the part of the people involved to ensure that the restrictions are not violated. The background to the protest is the death of 46-year-old George Floyd in the US in connection with a police intervention

- We do everything to facilitate the implementation of such manifestations and have the utmost respect for the frustration over this event and the need to express opinion in connection with it. Swedish police stand for everyone's equal value and distance themselves from violence, but we are not vaccinated from racism and must constantly work with our own culture, says Passikivi.

New demonstration in Malmö

During Thursday evening, another demonstration will be held. In the afternoon, the organizer was given permission to hold it on the Ribersborg beach in Malmö.

- We have to adhere to the guidelines of the Public Health Authority and we have the organizer's understanding of this, but we have the opportunity to dissolve the demonstration. But we will use conversation and dialogue as far as it ever goes, says Ewa-Gun Westford, press spokesman for the police.

She emphasizes that the police have a good dialogue with the organizer who will hold his manifestation in a large and open green area. Nearly 3,000 people have reported their interest on the Facebook demonstration.
