At least 13 people have died and dozens injured in the Hadramout region, east of Yemen, due to torrential rain caused by Cyclone Nisarga. Among the victims were five children, said a Yemeni government official, who requested anonymity.

According to him, the rains have continued over the past three days and have washed away dozens of houses, particularly near the valleys.

Two dead in India

Formed in the Arabian Sea, cyclone Nisarga reached the west coast of India on Wednesday, also killing two people in the state of Maharashtra, of which Bombay is the capital. This storm is the first of its magnitude to affect the Indian economic capital in more than 70 years.

Bad weather is frequent in Yemen, a poor country on the Arabian peninsula ravaged by more than half a decade of war.
