A driver drove his car on a terrace in Gennep in Limburg on Wednesday evening. Six people were injured. The driver was arrested by the police.

Around 10 p.m., the police received a message that a passenger car had hit a terrace on Zandstraat. Five people were slightly injured, one person was taken to hospital and, according to De Gelderlander newspaper, is the owner of the café. She is out of danger.

The emergency services were deployed en masse, including a police helicopter to find the car that drove through after the incident. The driver was arrested around 23.15. The police are investigating the incident even further. According to eyewitnesses, several people would have been in the car.

Mayor Willibrord van Beek van Gennep says in a reaction that he is very shocked and empathizes with the injured. "It is terrible that this is happening just now that terraces are open."
