A state of silence dominates the official authorities and the Egyptian media, and has also moved to social networking sites about the Renaissance Dam crisis, despite Ethiopia's aggressive preparations to start filling the new Dam Lake on July 1.

The striking barrier of silence was crossed only by some references in the media, as well as warning tweets, and some questioned the secret of official and popular silence on the water issue, which the Egyptians government and people have long said they consider a "issue of national security", and the matter reached in the previous period to launch Threats by the media, close to the authority, to use military force in the event of stalled negotiations.

And in recent days, the issue of the Renaissance Dam did not receive its seriousness an appropriate area of coverage and discussion in the Egyptian media, which was also reflected on the communication sites, which were busy with several issues, most notably the increasing number of people infected with Corona virus, and doctors' anger at what they describe as government negligence, as well as claims High school and final year students at universities delay exams for fear of contracting the virus.

The Egyptians were also busy renewing the differences between the Al-Ahly Club and its honorary president, Turki Al-Sheikh, head of the Saudi Entertainment Authority, and before it the conflict between Al-Ahly and Zamalek over the "Club Century" sign, while some chose to pay attention to the Libyan conflict between the legitimate government of Al-Wefaq and the forces of retired Major General Khalifa Hifter, as well as issues Others seem far less important to the interests of the Egyptians.

Interestingly, the issue of the Renaissance Dam was a few months ago present strongly in the media and communication sites, although the situation was less serious than it is now, and for months during which official statements varied between reassuring and emphasizing the readiness of the regime of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to defend the waters of the Nile and the rights of Egypt Historical.

But what is strange now is that the issue did not rise to the top of the Egyptians' interests, despite Ethiopia declaring its readiness to start filling the dam after less than a month, and allocating more than two thousand young people to cleanse and equip the land behind the dam, where the water will gather forming a huge lake that will greatly affect Egypt's share of the Nile water .

Earlier, Ethiopia announced its intention to start filling the reservoir of the Renaissance Dam this year, without prior agreement with Egypt and Sudan, which was rejected by Egypt, and submitted a memorandum to the Security Council in this regard.

However, Ethiopia's Minister of Water, Irrigation and Energy Seleici Bekele said last Thursday that his country would not recognize Egypt's historical rights to the waters of the Nile River.

The Egyptian silence also comes despite the movement of international and regional parties in the file of the Renaissance Dam, where Sudan called on Tuesday - in a letter to the UN Security Council - all parties involved in the file of the Renaissance Dam "to refrain from any unilateral measures that may affect peace."

The European Union also issued a statement last week stressing that "resolving the dispute is important for stability in the whole region." The statement added that the Vice-President of the European Commission and Commissioner for Foreign Affairs Josip Borrell had contacted all parties over the past weeks and encouraged them to "avoid the increasing polarization".

The statement stated that Borrell stressed the importance of avoiding any further escalation and finding an urgent solution that meets the interests of all parties.

The Sudanese government announced last week that Sudan and Ethiopia had agreed to return to negotiations with Egypt on the Renaissance Dam, and to "instruct the water ministers of the three countries to begin arrangements to return to negotiations as soon as possible."

Sudan's announcement came after negotiations stalled last February because of Ethiopia's refusal to sign a draft agreement prepared by the United States and the World Bank.

On May 12, Sudan rejected an Ethiopian proposal to sign a partial agreement to start filling the dam lake in July.

In 2011, Ethiopia started building the Renaissance Dam on the Blue Nile, at a cost of six billion dollars, which raised Egypt's anger and strained relations between the two countries.

Cairo, Khartoum, and Addis Ababa have since 2011 entered into negotiations to agree on how to limit the impact of the Ethiopian Dam on the quantities of water flowing to Sudan and Egypt.

On the other hand, Egyptians believe that it is in Egypt’s interest for Ethiopia to start storing water now in conjunction with indicators for an early start of the flooding of the headwaters of the Nile, so that Egypt is less vulnerable to unexpected droughts by a significant percentage in the next four years.

However, Professor of Dams Engineering, Mohamed Hafez, believes that starting filling the reservoir now in conjunction with the early flooding will lead to the impossibility of any Egyptian military action against the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam Because it will threaten the integrity of Sudan's dams.

The Egyptian scientist published on his Facebook page, explaining the latest satellite images of the Renaissance Dam, showing the presence of more than one hundred million cubic meters in front of the dam.

For his part, the expert in agriculture and irrigation Abdel Tawab Barakat called for the formation of a fact-finding committee in the Renaissance Dam crisis and "the absurd negotiations that have continued since 2014 without a time limit."

In an article for him, Barakat - who previously worked as an adviser to the Minister of Supply - indicated that the task of this committee is to "reveal to the people who depend entirely on the Nile River what happened in these negotiations during nearly a decade, and the reasons for the Egyptian negotiator surrendering to Ethiopia throughout these years, until Almost completed the construction of the dam without the completion of an agreement to ensure that Ethiopia does not harm Egypt.

And the past days have witnessed questions from some of the pioneers of social networking sites about Egypt's options towards the Renaissance Dam with the beginning of filling the reservoir.

Moudradoun criticized the silence of the Egyptian authorities, while others chose to recall previous statements by Sisi about the dam crisis and his reassurance to the Egyptians.

I wish the country would not open, the country would open, and Corona spread more and distract people on the issue of the Renaissance Dam. Ethiopia will start dictating, and we are in complete silence.

The expansion of Ethiopia and the reorganization of its relations with the countries of Northeast Africa is a natural result of the shrinking of Egypt's role and its inability to defend its strategic interests in front of Ethiopia regarding the waters of the Nile after its construction of the dam dam of the Renaissance of Egypt, Ethiopia did not dare to encroach on Sudan in the event of a strong regime in Egypt. pic.twitter.com/zhSg6dbg2C

The real patriotism is that it concerns you with the issue of the Renaissance Dam and its repercussions.
The false patriotism is that you work your mind with the mind of the Kuwaiti girl Reem ... in the battle for expressing patriotism
