Dubai Roads and Transport Authority stated that it did not record violations against public transport passengers related to the breach of the implementation of the preventive measures applied to limit the spread of «Covid-19», stressing that the proportion of commitment to health procedures applied in public transport and transportation is extremely high, even in the last days that I saw an increase in their number, due to the return of economic activities and permanence from workplaces.

In response to a question for «Emirates Today» about the most important violations that the authority has monitored for the procedures and laws in force, which were committed by passengers and deserved to be violated during the past two months, Ahmed Hashem Bahrouzian, the public transport authority at the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, said that «customers showed Understanding and awareness of the necessity of their commitment to the procedures in force, in the interest of their safety and the protection of the public interest ».

On his assessment of the level of awareness of public transportation passengers in these exceptional circumstances, Bahrousyan considered that awareness and commitment among clients and members of society to follow instructions is due to two things, the first is the volume of efforts made to raise the level of awareness to them, and reach them through various means through clear awareness and warning messages, explain The precautionary measures applied in full and continuously, while the second issue relates to the size and quality of daily monitoring and control carried out by a large field cadre of supervisors and inspectors, deployed in all the sites providing the authority's services, to ensure the implementation of the procedures and adhere to them in full.

He continued: «The Authority has intensified awareness campaigns for users of public transportation, not only through digital platforms and social media, but through electronic screens in trains, in buses, and in the locations of metro and bus stations, in four main languages, in addition to setting up no less than About 180,000 awareness posters were distributed on and around metro stations, buses, maritime transport and taxis.

He pointed to the important role of the large team of supervisors, guides and inspectors in following up the implementation of procedures, in coordination with the Transportation Security Department in Dubai Police, in order to ensure discipline, and to deal with any non-compliant cases.

Behruzian stressed that the past period did not witness any cases of breaching the laws, except for a very small percentage of passengers who do not wear masks, and who are prevented from entering public transport sites, and therefore there is no reason to record violations against them.

The procedures included controlling the opening of bus doors by the driver, so that the front and middle doors of the bus are opened, with the back door of the bus remaining closed, as well as limiting the number of taxi passengers to only two people in each vehicle, provided that they sit in the back seat, in addition to placing separators of material Plastic between the driver in the front area of the vehicle and the passengers in the rear seat.
