Postponed introduction of “September admission” Considered as a long-term issue Continuing policy June 3 at 5:15

About “September Admission” The government has decided not to introduce the system from this year or next year. However, since it has been pointed out that there are advantages such as improving international competitiveness by increasing the number of study abroad abroad, we will continue to consider it as a long-term issue.

Prime Minister Abe's "September Admission" talks with members of the LDP and the Komeito one after another on the 1st and 2nd, and the LDP said that it would take a certain period of time for a national agreement and implementation for the introduction of the system. I received a recommendation that the latest implementation is difficult.

In response, Prime Minister Abe said, "It is difficult to introduce a system with legal amendments this year or next year when the declaration of emergency has been lifted and the government is working to secure learning by working with local governments." I communicated my intention to postpone the introduction of the system from the current fiscal year and the next fiscal year.

Based on the intention of Prime Minister Abe, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology will give priority to catching up on delays in learning during temporary school closures, exemplify items that should be prioritized in educational content, utilize summer vacation and Saturday, and finish within the year. We plan to announce the countermeasures including the transfer of learning contents that could not be carried over to the next year at the earliest this week.

However, it is pointed out that the introduction of the international standard "September Admission" will lead to an increase in study abroad at overseas universities and an increase in international competitiveness such as employment promotion for returnees. We plan to continue to consider this as a long-term issue in cooperation with us.
