Ecologist Antoine Maurice surrounded by the various sensitivities of his Citizen Archipelago list. - B. Colin / 20 Minutes

  • On June 28, a duel will oppose the outgoing mayor, Jean-Luc Moudenc (LR), to the ecologist Antoine Maurice in the second round of the Toulouse municipal elections.
  • Monday, the socialist Nadia Pellefigue, who came third, announced that she was retiring, without allying herself with Antoine Maurice.
  • This Tuesday, the ecologist presented a list merged with some of the running mate Nadia Pellefigue and the list of Pierre Cohen, the former mayor who came fourth.

“In Toulouse, never has such a large list of all leftists and citizen movements been proposed. It is another choice for Toulouse than Jean-Luc Moudenc's conservatism (36.18%) ”. Surrounded by representatives of the PS, LFI or even the PCF, the ecologist Antoine Maurice presented Tuesday evening the broad outlines of his merged list to win back the Capitol against the outgoing mayor (LR).

More than 24 hours after the withdrawal of Nadia Pellefigue (18.53%), bitter discussions took place on how to integrate the socialist running mates ready to embark on the adventure of Citizen Archipelago (27.56%) . On Monday, the vice-president of the Occitanie region announced that she would not be. But, not wanting to hinder the union of the left, she left the free choice to the other members of Une nouvelle l'énergie (UNE).

Among them, many party representatives, such as the socialist senator Claude Raynal or the communist municipal councilor Pierre Lacaze. They find themselves, six years later, on the same list as Pierre Cohen. Arrived in fourth position on March 15 with its list “For cohesion” (5.66%), the evening of the first round, the latter had joined Antoine Maurice.

We are real #citizens engaged in politics with a real program of #citizens who have been caught up by old-style politics ... but we will continue in this process that # voters in # Toulouse expect @ lacmic31 @NadiaPellefigue @UNEtoulouse pic.twitter.com/z9HKfpzHSB

"The masks have fallen, it's the return of the parties", tackle Michel Lacroix, the running mate of Nadia Pellefigue, who had little taste for the attitude of his country friends. Like her, he believes that the "old practices" returned at the time of this inter-lap.

And mathematical calculations too. Because merging three lists requires a certain talent, especially in terms of distribution and proportionality. If we could hear in the background the opus of Johnny Hallyday Sang pour sang ("Beyond our differences ..."), the little music was not yet as clear Tuesday evening. Relegated to the depths of the list, a member of the Left Radical Party did not hide his dissatisfaction. It must be said that of the first 53 running mate, eligible in case of victory, six are from the list of Pierre Cohen, 12 from that of Nadia Pellefigue and 35 from Archipel.

Transfer of votes

"What matters is the union, the orientation remains the same, the new project will be improved and shared," says Antoine Maurice. But beyond the merger, it remains to be seen whether voters will follow. Because if a recent poll gives the union of the winning left in Toulouse against Jean-Luc Moudenc, the dubious lip service of Nadia Pellefigue could slow some. Even if for Claude Raynal, his now ex-running mate, "no one owns his votes".
