According to the forensic doctor, it may have taken between three and twelve hours from the girl to suffered a severe brain hemorrhage until she died.

"It is a combination of factors that have worked together and ultimately caused a general lack of oxygen in the body," she says in her testimony about how Esmeralda has died.

The forensic physician also received questions about his first impressions of the body.

"My first impression ... she was well wrapped, quite slim, skinny and many bruises on her body," she says.

The girl weighed 13 kilos in July and only 10 kilos in January, the forensic examiner says. She also explains that Esmeralda had had a longer period of lower nutritional uptake.

Hard to say how the girl got hurt

It is an external trauma that has caused the brain hemorrhage that occurred, according to the forensic physician. But how the trauma has occurred or what, is difficult to discern.

“It's hard to say how or why the girl hurt her head. It is about some kind of trauma, can be falls, blows or severe shaking. Based on my findings, I can't say exactly what happened. But we see that it's been a while, because the body has been able to respond to what has happened. "

Good chance of survival

The forensic doctor also says that the girl would have had good chances to survive if she had received care.

"My assessment is that she would have had relatively good chances of survival."

The interview also reveals that the girl has probably been given drugs on several occasions.

“What we can see is that there are four different narcotic substances in the blood. At least two of them are definitely not recommended to give to children at all, ”says the forensic physician.
