In Brazil, the coronavirus is still spreading at high speed. The country which is considered today as the main home of Covid-19 in the world, has more than 29,000 deaths and more than half a million confirmed cases. But the number of people reached by the Covid-19 is much higher than the official figures.

It must be said that the restrictive measures put in place by the governors are less and less respected, starting with President Jair Bolsonaro, who is constantly being crowded. It has become a habit: for several weeks, the far-right president has participated in demonstrations organized every Sunday by his supporters in Brasilia.

Just yesterday, defying all the standards of health standards and social distancing, he joined the crowd who demanded the end of containment measures, the closure of Congress and a military intervention. Without a mask, Jair Bolsonaro carried two children on his shoulders before riding on a police horse, to the applause of his supporters.

More than half of the confirmed cases in Latin America

His supporters clashed Sunday, May 31, with anti-Bolsonaro activists in Sao Paulo, the epicenter of the epidemic in Brazil. The economic capital started this Monday, June 1, back to normal. Shops will be able to reopen provided they follow a very strict health protocol. In other large cities, such as Rio de Janeiro, restrictions have not yet been lifted.

In the absence of a national directive, it is therefore an à la carte deconfinement that is taking shape, and this, while new infections continue to increase. In number of deaths, Brazil has become the fourth country most affected by Covid-19. It alone identifies more than half of the confirmed cases in Latin America.
