The corresponding decree is posted on the Internet portal of legal information.
“To appoint Major General of Police Sergey N. Lebedev as Deputy Minister of the Interior of the Russian Federation - Head of the Investigation Department of the Ministry of the Interior,” the document says.
According to the decree, Lebedev was awarded the special rank of Major General of Justice.
According to RIA Novosti, the previous head of the department, Alexander Romanov, was dismissed amid a scandal surrounding his subordinates who were arrested in the case of abuse of authority related to businessman Albert Khudoyan.
