Who will Cédric Villani get along with? The question remains posed while negotiations between the outgoing mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo (PS) and the candidate (ex-LREM) for the second round of municipal elections are stopped, we learned on Saturday from two parts.

Cédric Villani will speak at the start of the week

"We did not find the conditions for an alliance, the negotiations ended on good terms", it was said at "Paris en commun", Anne Hidalgo's campaign platform, partially confirming an information of the Parisian. But according to Cédric Villani's entourage, "as things stand, negotiations are (only) frozen".

The mathematician, excluded from LREM for his dissidence to the candidacy of Benjamin Griveaux, "will comment on these subjects early next week," added his team. "There has never been any question of a demand for 19 councilors from Paris" as a necessary condition for sealing an alliance, she said in response to press reports to this effect.

The team of Agnes Buzyn, the candidate of LREM, arrived in third position (17.3%) in the first round on March 15 behind the outgoing mayor (29.3%) and Rachida Dati (LR, 22.7%) , also expressed interest in a pact with Cédric Villani. The cards are therefore in his hands today.
