May 31, 2020 Party night and with Festa in Avellino, with many kids on the street, many hugs and little social distancing. The party, from what transpires from some videos circulating on the web, would take place at night between Saturday and Sunday, in via de Conciliis, the nightlife street, frequented by young people for the presence of numerous clubs. In the video you can see many young people dancing, embracing and intoning stadium choirs. At some point we see the mayor, Gianluca Festa, with the mask, who improvises himself as the choir director.

The defense of the mayor
"I'm here to keep everything under control." So the mayor of Avellino, Gianluca Festa, concludes a long post on facebook to defend himself from the controversy triggered by his participation in the nightlife last night in the center of Avellino, with stadium choirs in favor of the mayor (former player of the basketball team Scandone Avellino ) author of the ordinance that expands the more restrictive terms set by the Region on the opening of the premises on the weekend, against Salernitana (football rival) and not against the city of Salerno and not even against the President (Salerno) of the Campania Region, Vincenzo De Luca.

"There are those who attack and demonize young people - Festa writes - and I don't think it has achieved results. I have always been at ease with young people. This is why I decided to make an inspection on the pedestrian area last night, to make sure that even the resumption of nightlife was in full compliance with the rules. I must say that I found a calm and cheerful atmosphere. I stopped to greet many young people I met along my path, enthusiastic about the newfound freedom ". The mayor speaks of a "playful and playful" atmosphere, referring to the choirs, in which he has descended to stimulate young people "to responsibility and to explain to them that it is good to still be attentive, freedom will come, but now we must continue to follow the rules safely. "

Exposed of the sardine
The many videos circulating on the web, according to opponents of the mayor Festa must be submitted to the examination of the judicial authority. The Avellino representative of the Sardine movement, Carlo Petrozzelli, presented an exhibit to the police station of Avellino this morning. "There is a limit to decency - says Petrozzelli - Gianluca Festa has put citizens' health at risk with the irresponsible attitudes that we have all had the opportunity to see in the numerous videos that have circulated in the last few hours on the web".

Gubitosa (M5s): "Incomprehensible attitude"
"I find absolutely absolutely incomprehensible the attitude of the mayor of Avellino, Gianluca Festa, unexpectedly protagonist of the gathering that we have seen in the images reported by the media. It is an unacceptable lack of respect towards those doctors, nurses and health workers who in recent months have risked their lives in the hospital trenches, towards those families who have mourned their loved ones in these months without even being able to greet them for the last time, towards citizens, entrepreneurs, traders, craftsmen who are trying to get up in compliance with the rules ". This was stated by Michele Gubitosa, M5s Irpinian deputy.

Annunziata (Pd): "Surreal"
"We don't know what the mayor Gianluca Festa had in mind when he decided to meet the numerous kids of the Avellino nightlife last night. Maybe he rightly wanted to point out to them the dangerous situation that was being created with the failure to respect social distancing. Then instead he turned into a surreal orchestra conductor intent on directing spontaneous stadium choirs in tune for whatever reason. It ended with a further, dangerous, gathering. Festa's behavior really leaves us stunned ". This was stated in a note by Leo Annunziata, regional secretary of the Democratic Party.

Fasano (Fi): "Serious act"
"What happened last night in Avellino is of unprecedented gravity and must not go unpunished. Not only for the choirs and teasing addressed to the citizens of Salerno who embitter everyone at a time when national unity should be the supreme good. But for the fact that the mayor of Avellino, Gianluca Festa was the one to direct everything. A madness that cannot be tolerated, certainly from an ethical point of view but even more under the institutional profile. Festa showed a very serious irresponsibility, passing on a very dangerous message in one of the most delicate moments in the history of our country ". This was stated by Forza Italia Member of Parliament, Enzo Fasano.
