The candidate of EELV for the mayor of Paris David Belliard, in full negotiation with Anne Hidalgo for the second round of the municipal elections at the end of June, asks Sunday in the JDD that the environmentalists are "fully associated at all levels" of the next term of office.

With 29.3% in the first round on March 15, "Anne Hidalgo came out on top, today she is responsible for the rally," admits David Belliard. "I am hopeful that we can reach a coalition agreement around a breakup project," he adds, identifying "many points of convergence" on ecology in particular.

But if the candidate concedes having achieved a score of 10.8% "below his expectations", he makes several requirements. He says he does not want to "give in" on the need for a "moratorium" on the "major works" of the ZAC Bercy-Charenton, the Triangle Tower or on the wasteland of the 13th and 18th arrondissements.

In addition according to him, "there are not enough green spaces in Paris". "The epidemic has proven the need to dedensify," he insists. "If we want to avoid other periods of confinement in the future, we must stop concreting, building offices, swearing only by economic attractiveness and demographic growth".

He also demanded that EELV be "fully associated with all levels" of the future mandate, claiming "several district town halls" and, without specifying if it would be intended for him, "an assistant post who has a vision 360 degrees on City policies, with binding means, to ensure that they meet all of our ecological commitments - a sort of vice-mayor. "

Anne Hidalgo's campaign director, Emmanuel Grégoire, for his part assured Europe 1 on Sunday that he was "hopeful that (the discussion with the environmentalists) would succeed in the hours to come".

"There is everything that brings us together: on the questions of urban transformation, mobility, design of public space. There are also points of disagreement," he recognized. "We are in the process of defining the outline of the project, working on future governance and we agree on the lists," said the one who is first deputy to the mayor of Paris.

Anne Hidalgo is the big favorite of the June 28 poll, with a comfortable lead over Rachida Dati (LR, 22.7%) and the LREM candidate Agnès Buzyn (17.3%). Negotiations with Cédric Villani (ex-LREM) were however stopped on Saturday, according to the two parties.

Grégoire stressed that "if there is no agreement - which is likely - we intend to work with him in the coming years".
