On March 15, Pierre Mardegan, the candidate supported by LREM in Montauban, gathered 10.87% of the votes during the first ballot, far behind the outgoing mayor LR, Brigitte Barèges (46.28%) and the candidate of the left union, Arnaud Hilion (29.28%).

In a message posted on his Facebook page, the one who is also patron of the emergencies of the city of Ingres, indicated that he was withdrawing "after having considered several avenues of union", refusing to "unnatural alliances as we have seen in the past in Montauban and in Tarn-et-Garonne ”.

In his message, he regretted that the voters had "chosen the old bipolar mode" and refused to give a voting instruction, the Montalbanais having to "remain free to choose."

During the second round, it is therefore a duel that is looming, the list of the National Rally has not passed the 10% mark, despite the ambitions of its candidate, the outgoing city councilor Thierry Viallon.

With his 46.28% already garnered in the first round, the mayor of Montauban remains the favorite of this election.
