The first forensic psychiatric examination showed that the mother did not suffer from a mental disorder when she killed her 4-year-old son. But it was rejected and had to be redone at the request of the woman's lawyer. The second forensic psychiatric examination found that the woman suffered from a mental disorder at the deed.

When there were two different forensic psychiatric opinions, Halmstad District Court wanted a third assessment.

The mother had no psychosis

Then they turned to the expertise of the Swedish National Board of Legal Affairs. A third assessment has now been made that concluded that the woman's condition, at the murder of four-year-olds, is to be regarded as a serious mental disorder and that she is in need of forensic psychiatric care and not prison.

However, the doctor judges that she was not in a psychosis when she took her son's life but in a "psycho-like condition". It must have been generated by her personality syndrome (something previously called personality disorder) in connection with a strong anxiety problem that was compounded by her alcohol abuse.

The trial continues

On Monday, the trial continues against the murdered woman who was suspended pending the hearing of the Judicial Council.
