Pakistani Airlines A320, carrying 107 passengers, crashed into a residential neighborhood near Jinna Airport in Karachi, southern Pakistan this afternoon (22nd).

"It seems there are no survivors," Mayor Wassim Aktar Karachi said.

However, aviation officials say, "I think there are at least two survivors."

The Korean Embassy in Pakistan says there are no Korean passengers.

Local media such as the Express Tribune and Money reported that Pakistan International Airlines' A320 flight from Lahore to Karachi (PK8303) fell to a residential neighborhood near Karachi Airport around 2:45 pm local time.

Pakistan's aviation authorities say a total of 107 people, including 99 passengers and 8 crew members, were on board.

The plane was scheduled to take off from Lahore in northeastern Pakistan at 1: 8 pm local time on the same day and land at Jinna Airport in Karachi, southern Pakistan at 2:45 pm.

A spokesman for Pakistani International Airlines said, "The pilot lost contact after reporting a technical flaw to the airport control center at 2:37 pm."

An official from the aviation authority said in an interview with Reuters, "The landing gear does not appear to have emerged due to a technical defect before landing, but it has yet to determine the cause of the accident.

"I've seen at least three attempts to land at the airport before a passenger plane collides with several houses," said Abdul Rahman, a crash resident.

The rescue authorities dispatched personnel to the residential accident site called 'Model Colony' to identify casualties and conduct rescue activities, while proclaiming an emergency to all hospitals near Jinna Airport.

Police and military dispatched to block the area around the accident, and helicopters were also put in for rescue operations.
