Tests for everyone. The principality of Monaco will embark on Monday in a massive screening of the new coronavirus for its population of residents and employees, or 90,000 people, the government announced.

A letter "will be sent to each household to explain the process," said the principality, adding that this massive screening campaign is based on the principle of volunteering and will be entirely the responsibility of the State. The text specifies that this test, "prevention and detection tool", will also be used for "epidemiological research work" and to "guide public health policy".

Rapid tests

The proposed tests are rapid diagnostic orientation tests (TROD), carried out by taking a drop of blood at the fingertip. The purpose of this serological exam is to look for antibodies to find out if there has been contact with Covid-19.

If the result is positive, the person will be asked to take a blood test in the laboratory to determine more precisely his viral load and when he crossed the virus. "If this period is less than seven days, a nasopharyngeal PCR test will determine if the person is infected with the virus, which will lead to his compulsory fortnight," add the Monegasque authorities.

To date, the epidemic balance in Monaco, where both Prince Albert II and the head of government have been affected by the disease, is less than a hundred people affected by Covid-19. The disease claimed 4 victims, including a resident.
