More thefts of electric bicycles - that's how you protect yourself

Until May 14 this year, 35 electric bicycles were stolen in Kronoberg County, 29 of them in Växjö. In Kalmar, 41 bicycles have been stolen, of which 26 in Kalmar.

- The availability of electric bicycles has increased and the more bicycles are in circulation the more it is stolen. An electric bicycle is often worth a lot of money, says police spokesman Robert Loeffel.

This week, among other things, several electric bikes were stolen from a storage room belonging to a home service group in Växjö.

But it is not only the bike itself that is popular to steal, sometimes only the batteries are stolen.

- You steal batteries with a simple knob with a screwdriver when the bike is parked, it's worth a lot of money too, says Robert Loeffel.
