According to the Rosstat, at the beginning of 1941, 111 million people lived in the RSFSR.

At the same time, by the beginning of 1946, the country's population was 97.6 million people. 

It is indicated that at the beginning of 1941 in the RSFSR there were more than 14 million children, despite the fact that at the beginning of 1946 there were only 6.8 million of them. The number of men aged 20 to 49 years during the war decreased by 6.1 million people. The number of women during this period decreased by 847 thousand people. 

According to the department, if there had not been World War II, the population growth in the RSFSR would have amounted to 6.4 million people. The calculations were carried out provided that the indicators of population reproduction were maintained at the level of 1940. 

In total, during the war, the losses of the Soviet Union amounted to 26.6 million people, Rosstat reported.
