On May 6, Blackbox Research, an independent polling agency in Singapore, released a survey report on the satisfaction of the people in various countries and regions with the government's anti-epidemic measures. The results of the report show that among the 23 economies in the world, people in mainland China are most satisfied with the government's fight against epidemics, while people in Western countries are generally dissatisfied with the government's response to the epidemic.

Chinese people's satisfaction with the government's anti-epidemic disease tops the list

From April 3 to 19, Blackbox Research and Toluna, an international consumer survey agency, conducted a poll of 12,592 respondents from 23 economies around the world. The respondents were between 18 and 80 years old, and two-thirds of them had received higher education.

The survey uses four main indicators to evaluate the government's anti-epidemic measures in each economy, namely political leadership, corporate leadership, local community's anti-epidemic performance, and the sense of responsibility of the national media in the crisis.

In this survey, Asian economies scored higher overall, and mainland China topped the list with a combined score of 85, far exceeding the global average (45 points).

Western economies have lower overall scores. The report shows that the United States, Australia and the four Western European countries (Italy, Germany, United Kingdom and France) have combined scores lower than the global average.

New Zealand became the only Western country in the survey with a score higher than the global average (45 points). David Black, the founder and CEO of Blackbox Research, explained that this is because New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Aden effectively led the fight against the epidemic and controlled the spread of the epidemic, and therefore received high recognition degree.

What about political leadership?

Of the 23 economies covered by the survey, only 7 leaders received more than half of the people ’s satisfaction, of which 86% of respondents in mainland China expressed satisfaction, the highest satisfaction in the survey, far exceeding 40% The global average.

Is the government responding fast enough?

In the face of a sudden outbreak, how fast does the government respond? The report shows that as many as 84% of French people think their government's response is too late, followed by Japanese (82%) and Americans (74%).

In addition, 42% of the American people also believe that the US government is more prepared to respond to military conflicts than responding to the epidemic. In the survey, this proportion is the highest in the world.

How about corporate leadership?

With the development of the epidemic, various countries have successively adopted closure measures, and the global economy has been affected to a certain extent. Under such circumstances, have the business leaders of various economies responded well? 80% of Chinese respondents and 64% of Vietnamese respondents are satisfied with the performance of business people in the epidemic. In the remaining 21 economies, satisfaction is less than 50%.

China shows stronger confidence

The report also shows that China has shown greater confidence than the United States in getting out of the crisis: 85% of the Chinese interviewed believe that China will be stronger after the epidemic, while only 41% of the American people believe that the United States will become more powerful.

David Black, founder and CEO of Blackbox Research, said: "We see a major crack in the self-belief of the Western world. For many countries, this is an unprecedented epidemic. Many governments are still responding to expectations The external crisis has damaged public confidence. "

Black also concluded: "Overall, most countries and regions have failed to meet the expectations of the people. The Chinese people agree that this may be due to the fact that China has entered the recovery phase during the global outbreak, which shows The crisis is handled well. "
