If you plan to equip yourself with masks on the internet for deconfinement, be careful! Scams abound online and the authorities call for the greatest vigilance. Loïc Tanguy, director of cabinet in the general direction of the repression of the frauds, delivers some councils to locate the false sellers.

For fear of shortages or wish not to leave your home, perhaps you plan to buy masks on the internet for the deconfinement, which should start on Monday. But a few days before the deadline, be careful: scams abound online. Europe 1 has received the advice of Loïc Tanguy, director of cabinet in the general direction of the repression of the frauds, of which about thirty cyber-investigators track down the suspicious details while posing as ordinary consumers.

"Obviously rave comments"

First point of vigilance: good opinions, by themselves, are not necessarily a guarantee of seriousness. "We had an example of a site which had been created at the beginning of May, and for which there were comments which dated back to mid-April, obviously rave, on the quality of the products which had been delivered", begins Loïc Tanguy.

"We can also have sites that announce to you each time that there are eight people on the page and that there are eight products in stock: that is generally a misleading practice", continues the director of cabinet. "You can also have far-fetched price reduction announcements. It's a whole bunch of clues that can lead investigators to investigate further. If they do, they can buy products, and then if there are a deception, we transmit the information to justice. "

An official list available online

If you have any doubt, the list of sellers who have passed the filtration tests and who can therefore claim the official logo of a masked face on a blue white red background, is available on the website of the Directorate General of Companies. Misleading commercial practices, punishable by a year in prison and a million and a half euros fine, can be reported on the fraud repression site.
