The German cruise ship "Meishev III" of the TUI Group arrived in Cuxhaven in northern Germany on April 28. The cruise had already sent away the last batch of tourists in March this year, and currently about 2,900 people on board are crew members. After landing, 15 people on board developed mild flu-like symptoms. Subsequently, the local health department conducted a new coronavirus test on the crew. On April 30, a crew member tested positive and was sent to the hospital in Cuxhaven for isolation treatment. At present, the crew is in good health and stable. The test results of 229 people who had close contact with them were all negative.
On May 3, TUI Cruise issued a statement saying that the team dispatched by the testing center of Helios Hospital in Cuxhaven had already boarded the "Mehiev No. 3" on the same day. The test results will be available in the evening of the 4th.
According to information provided by the Cuxhaven County Government, North German Radio quoted that about 110 crew members had disembarked on the day of April 30 and set off for their respective countries. The authorities said they had contacted the crew and asked them to be quarantined at home for two weeks in accordance with relevant regulations. Cuxhaven County Mayor Billfield and Mayor Sanjay said that considering the crew are currently under strict quarantine, they do not believe that the virus has the risk of spreading to Cuxhaven.
