A giant 'massive' moon meteorite was auctioned out above the moonstone brought to Earth by astronauts on Apollo expeditions.

Auction company Christie reported on the 30th of CNN last month that it will send a moon a meteorite weighing about 13.5kg to a private auction on the 7th (local time in London).

The official name of the planet's fifth largest meteorite is 'NWA 12691', which starts at about 2 million pounds (about 3 billion won).

According to Christie, the meteorite fell to Earth on a meteor shower and was discovered in Sahara two years ago.

Experts believe that a collision with an asteroid or comet has fallen off the surface of the moon.

Together, about 30 thousand meteorites that have landed on a meteor shower flying about 239,000 miles (approximately 384,000633 km) have been found in northwestern Africa to date.

The moon's meteorite is only 650kg in total, and it is considered to have great scarcity because it rarely falls on Earth.

James Heiselop, auctioneer for Christie's Natural Sciences Division, described the moon meteorite at the auction as "a little longer than a soccer ball and bigger than a human head."

"It's bigger than any meteorite that's ever been on an auction in Christie," he said. "Having part of another world will be an unforgettable experience forever."
