Statistics of the Moroccan Ministry of Health showed, yesterday evening, that 55 new cases of coronavirus were detected in Morocco within 24 hours, bringing the number of infected people to 4120 cases.


The head of the Epidemiology Directorate of the Moroccan Ministry of Health, Mohamed Al Youbi, confirmed that the number of people recovering during the same period reached 102, bringing the recovery cases to 659 cases, while one person died, raising the total deaths since the start of the outbreak in Morocco on March 2 to 162 deaths.


Al-Youbi added, "It was observed that the number of cases recorded in the epidemiological foci that we had counted was observed," but stressed that "caution must be exercised against giving any indication greater than their size to changing numbers from day to day, as the temporal development of indicators should be tracked over several days."


For his part, the Minister of Economy, Finance and Administration Reform said in an intervention before the House of Representatives that "Morocco's economic prospects will be affected by the negative repercussions of the spread of the Coruna virus, as the disruption of production and supply chains worldwide has affected a wide range of sectors."


He said that the resources of the fund that the Moroccan King, King Mohamed VI, had established to fight against the Corona Virus "amounted to Friday, April 24th, 32 billion dirhams, while its expenditures amounted to 6.2 billion dirhams, including 2 billion dirhams to the Ministry of Health to purchase medical equipment and supplies necessary to cope with the pandemic. ".


Morocco extended the health emergency until May 20, after the first phase of the emergency ended on April 20.
