Two days after the double crash of spraying planes on the beach at Saint-Pierre-la-Mer, a helicopter crashed between Sète and Marseillan. Here again, the pilot is safe and sound and suffers from only a few bruises. The aircraft partially caught fire but burned only a few reeds in this very swampy area.
The helicopter belonged to the Giragri company, commissioned by the EID Mediterranean (Interdepartmental Mosquito Control Agreement) for part of the aerial treatments to control mosquito antilarval.
Friday, already two planes crashed near Narbonne
"He was carrying out a treatment on the water deposits of nuisance mosquito species, whose eggs hatched after the bad weather last week," explains EID. This Sunday intervention responded to the need to act before the emergence of adult mosquitoes, knowing that winds are expected from this Monday, complicating air operations. The investigation was entrusted to the gendarmerie.

Friday, two Delta 2 aircraft crashed on the beach at Saint-Pierre-la-Mer, near Narbonne. These planes were in transit to carry out mosquito treatment in the Pyrénées-Orientales department, after the flooding following the heavy rains of the last few days. "Due to the lack of visibility, the two pilots decided to land on the beach, but the loose surface caused their overturning," said the EID.
Again the two pilots were safe and sound.
