The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States announced that the League’s Council will hold an extraordinary session at the level of Arab foreign ministers, tomorrow, Thursday, at a remote meeting remotely, via video conference technology, chaired by the Sultanate of Oman.

The meeting comes at the request of Palestine, to discuss the steps and measures that Arab states can take towards the seriousness of implementing the Israeli plan to annex the West Bank or parts of it, and impose Israeli sovereignty over it, and over illegal settlements and settlements established on the land of the State of Palestine occupied since 1967, especially It includes the Palestinian Valley, and Area C (West Bank).

The Assistant Secretary-General of the University, Ambassador Hossam Zaki, said that the foreign ministers will also discuss in their virtual meeting various ways of providing political, legal and financial support to the Palestinian leadership, so that they can confront these Israeli plans, and to enable the government of Palestine to face the damage caused by the Corona pandemic, and the measures The aggressive Israeli is suffering more Palestinian losses, in addition to the confiscation of clearing funds by Israel. The League’s General Secretariat held consultations with Palestine, who invited the meeting, and the Sultanate of Oman, the current president of the university’s session, to determine the scheduled date for the extraordinary (emergency) session of the council at the level of Arab foreign ministers at a remote meeting, and the request was supported by a number of Arab countries. Including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, Algeria, Yemen and Iraq.

Ambassador Hossam Zaki pointed to the political action taken by the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, in this regard, especially with the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, noting that Aboul Gheit recently received a message from Guterres, during which he expressed his rejection Israeli directions and intentions to announce the annexation of settlements, or any parts of the West Bank, considering that a decision like this would close the door to negotiations.

Zaki stated that Guterres' message came in response to a message he had sent to him Abul-Gheit a few days ago, during which he warned of the danger of Israeli trends towards exploiting the global preoccupation with facing the Corona epidemic to install a new status quo, annexing parts of the occupied Palestinian territories, and declaring Israeli sovereignty over them, calling The United Nations to assume its responsibilities.
