April 25, 2020 A new "hotbed" of contagions from Coronavirus, so far with about 20 cases of positivity and four hospitalized, has opened in Rome, at the Salesian Pontifical University (UPS), one of the main Catholic universities that has hundreds of people. among students from all over the world, teachers and members of the congregation founded by Don Bosco.

Six religious communities
"Among the members of the six religious communities that live on campus, unfortunately cases of positivity to Covid-19 have recently occurred which, detected by the competent doctors, were immediately reported to the health authority which proceeded to indicate the procedures and the provisions to be implemented with regard to people and environments ", the University of the Salesians says on its website. "Currently four are hospitalized," he adds.

Isolated positives
As indicated by the ASL, "tests are being carried out for Covid in order to identify the asymptomatic positives, currently about twenty, readily isolated in a reserved area". The Directorate of ASL Roma 1 "is transferring them to suitable structures to continue the prescribed period of medical check up in isolation".

The rector speaks on Monday
On the occasion of the meeting of the Ups academic community, already scheduled electronically on the afternoon of Monday 27 April, the rector Don Mauro Mantovani "will provide further updates concerning the health situation". The Salesian Pontifical University "since the first governmental measure has complied with the provisions issued. Teaching takes place only remotely, the University employees are not present in the facility and the area is closed to the public", explains the University.
