The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, said that he directed his government to implement radical reforms to confront fluctuations in oil prices, and called on countries of the world to cooperate in combating the Corona pandemic.

"Our economy should not be held hostage to fluctuations in energy prices, and I have been directed to undertake radical reforms that liberalize our economy," the Amir said.

In the face of the Corona pandemic, the Emir of Qatar called on the leaders of the countries of the world - especially the major industrial ones - to cooperate, not compete, in the fight against the pandemic that affected the world and claimed the lives of more than 180 thousand.

He added - in a televised speech on the eve of the first days of the holy month of Ramadan - that his country realized early on the seriousness of the crisis, and relied on its experiences in confronting the virus in cooperation with international organizations.

Sheikh Tamim affirmed that Qatar has strengthened the medical teams and the necessary equipment and established field hospitals that can accommodate thousands, and "we hope that we do not need them."

He said, "We are studying, in consultation with specialized agencies, the appropriate time to gradually open to various areas, after making sure of the epidemic inventory."

It is noteworthy that Qatar has recorded more than 7764 cases of emerging coronavirus, including 10 deaths, and 750 recovering from the virus.
